[SIC]Nov 13 2008
things are going quite well in your classroom... room just needs a bit fixing up...the tree in the hall is great as is your bulletin boards...the room should be more like that..otherwise all is GREAT...i will be back tuesday november 25... Sarah  will be coming back dec 11  to spend a period in the room.. you don't have to do anything very special but we'll talk about that..just figure out what time you want me to bring her in...[SIC]

The tree that Carla was referring to was the Fall Friendship Tree that the class created together. As part of my Autumn unit, we all went outside to experience the season Autumn. The children were told to look at the colors of the leaves, watch the leaves fall down, discussed what the weather felt like when they went outside and discussed how we dress in Autumn. We even went on a leaf hunt and collected many sizes and shapes of leaves that were used for creating leaf rubbings. The children created their own Fall Friendship Tree inside the school where they had to paint the tree trunk different shades of brown. They also cut out chain links which were our Fall leaves for the Friendship Tree.  This was also  how I tied the Reggio Emilia  approach into my curriculum.

Sarah  who Carla has mentioned was Carla's boss. Now the main boss is the principal Annie. Annie was not really around so much. Mostly it was Carla who came in to visit with me once a week. (Months later, Carla and I eventually became friends because we enjoyed working together and getting to know each other). Sarah is the lead mentor, Carla's boss. Sarah's responsibility is to come in and observe the mentee teachers with the mentor teacher to make sure all is going well. So now I was not just being observed by the principal and assistant principal together (yes, this administrative team goes into classrooms together to do observations. Yes, we all think it is weird) but by the lead mentor Sarah as well.

everything is going very well...the room looks much better..kids are very happy and have really matured these three months...and you have grown and matured in the classroom as well. you are working very hard...and it shows....and you are most caring of the kids....and that is great..see you dec 4..thursday..and yes...i will come in on the 11th with Sarah..i think you said at 9;45..please let me know again about the time...sorry i forgot

There is not much to say here because Carla said it all in her feedback to me regarding my classroom management, instructional duties, maturity and needs for the children. Carla is and will always be 1 of the best people to have watch over you. Besides being my mentor, Carla was really a tremendous support system, lifeline, school mother (I caught her looking over my shoulder a few times making sure I was all right) and a fun friend to have in school. After a few short months, Carla and I really enjoyed each other's company.
